About the project

Live Fast Die Old is a website dedicated to the outstanding beauty, freedom and adventure that Scotland and its roads provide to bikers from all over the world, it aims to detail the best routes, the best scenery and the wildest adventures available in Scotland.

Scotland has a unique landscape that is perfectly suited to the two wheel adventurers, it has stunning views and scenery as well as offering some of the best riding roads in the world. Freedom and adventure awaits the bikers who take on Scotlands roads, from spectacular coastal and mountain routes to more serene forest and country routes. This site aims to not only inform riders of these stunning locations but also offers practical tips on safety whilst riding these roads as well as top tips on where to visit.

The process

As part of the digital team at the Gate Edinburgh, I was responsible for taking this project from the designer and making it come to life on the web.

For this project the designer used SKETCH to design and prototype the site finally handing it over to me in Invision which was exceptionally helpful as it allowed me to pick up various styles, sizes, colours and fonts direct from the Invision App saving me loads of development time. Once the site was handed over to me I then proceeded to build it from scratch in Wordpress, this involved creating a completely standalone theme not reliant on a parent theme which in my opinion has helped with the development time and reduced the overall size of the project and allowed for a much more streamline and focused site build.

The site boasts some nice features such as interactive Google maps and handy informational items such as the weather
