Road Safety Scotland

The Gate where originally tasked with taking over the running of the original Road Safety website (built in Umbraco) and where very quickly asked to convert it to WordPress whilst maintaning the look and feel of that original site, I was quickly tasked with bringing the original site and all its content into WordPress whilst maintaining the frontend look and feel and functionality, it was a challenge at the time but ultimately successful.

Fast forward a few years from that original site build and the Gate where tasked with bringing the original site up to date and to make it more modern, whilst trying to utilise various components from the then quite new Scottish Government Design System.

The new site was designed using a combination of Sketch and Invision, once the new site design was signed off it was passed to me to bring to life on the web. The site was built using the Advanced Custom Fields plugin to create various conetnt building blocks and components, taking various items from the Design SYstem and re creating them as custom content blocks within WordPress. The site holds many if not all of the Transport Scotland Road Safety campaigns and materials and as such the site utlises various different filter systems as well as a custom template to allow the conversion of inaccessible PDFs and other document types into fully accessible HTML pages and holds various pieces of campaign collatoral that users can freely download and use.

The sites main purpose is Road Safety Education, there are various sections on the site that deal directly with education and these sections hold various types of content, from videos, audio, flip books, activities and games.
