About the project
The role of Scottish Rail Holdings is to ensure that the necessary arrangements are put in place to mobilise a wholly-owned new company of the Scottish Government which will be named Scottish Rail Holdings Limited.
Their purpose is to ensure that SRT and CSL connect people and places to help make Scotland a great place to live, work and visit. Their stewardship of both SRT and CSL is to ensure that they enable Scotland to have the best possible passenger rail services.
The arrangement between SRH and Scottish Ministers are set out in the Framework Agreement. The Framework Agreement is a legally binding contract that places obligations on both SRH and the Scottish Government.
The process
The Gate where approached and asked to design and build a new website to house the Scottish Rail Holdings Limited offering.
The site was designed using a combination of Sketch and Invision, once the client had signed off the designs, the files where supplied to me to create a fully custom WordPress website.
The site uses the Advanced Custom Fields plugin to build the conetnt blocks and components that the site is built on, this gives the editors and authors of the site maximum flexability when creating new pages and content, there are pre built content blocks that where identified during the design stage, the site also pulls heavily from the Scottish Government Design System. The client didn't want the site to look too design sytem so custom styles where added i order to drastically change the look and feel of the site even though underlying building blocks and components where creating using the design system.
